Discovery: Digital Course Materials Improve Your Enrollment Process
By Mark Christensen

Discovery May 2018 Openvue

Making the switch to digital course materials provides an obvious benefit for students. It offers them an affordable option that is engaging, personalized, and, of course, available on or before the first day of class. Right from the learning environment. All good stuff for your students.

But what’s the benefit to you? For your institution?

To get a better understanding, I checked in with Eszti Major-Rohrer, Senior Director of Partnership Development. She works extensively with institutions just like yours and knows first-hand how Ed Map’s OPENVUE® course materials management platform can leverage data and give you the opportunity to be proactive during your enrollment process.

Watch the quick video below and learn from Eszti as she shares a few things you’ll want to keep an eye on during your add/drop period.

Providing course materials via the teaching and learning environment benefits, not just the student but the institution as well. With digital course materials, institutions get transparency into who is accessing the course materials and when, and who isn’t.

The benefit during your institution’s add/drop period is a prime example. Being able to see and analyze data is critical for billing and reporting purposes on your end. Having an “open view” provides you with powerful data. And Ed Map’s OPENVUE® course materials management platform gives you just that.

You’ll want to make sure you monitor a few things during the process.

Ask yourself a few questions, like, “Who is in the class and have they taken action yet?” Another smart one is, “Who opted out of getting the course material?” Remember to consider the cost of the course content to your students and validate that by asking, “Is the right price applied?”

Having access to data provides you answers. Not having data at your fingertips leaves you in the dark. That’s not good.

By asking a few, targeted questions during the add/drop period, you can determine who hasn’t enrolled and if they are at risk of dropping the course. You will have the data to proactively reach out to those students and see if they need help taking the next step. This supports your retention efforts and makes sure your students are prepared for class. Students always appreciate the support, and your instructors will appreciate having students ready to start class!
